Our Core Program

At the heart of every organization is a strong leader.

The Core Program

Personify Leadership is an engaging two-day, high-intensity program providing comprehensive development for leaders in eight core competencies derived from our body-focused model.

LEADERSHIP SKILLS FOR ALL YOUR LEADERS

Many people are promoted in an organization because they were good at their jobs and not because they have great leadership skills. This can provide tricky scenarios if leaders aren’t provided adequate training.

Mid-Level Leaders
The examples and case studies used throughout the Core Program are geared towards Mid-Level Leaders. We have also had Emerging Leaders complete this course and have found it to be very applicable.

C-Suite Leaders
Our C-Suite Core Program models the Mid-Level Leader course, however the conversations and questions are looked at through a different lens. Some of the models are taken one step further, beyond what a mid-level leader would need to know, and focuses on the development of the leaders at the top of your organization.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Deepen their understanding of what it takes to be a leader
  • Develop key skills and practical “how to’s” for leading their
    workforce more effectively
  • Gain a greater appreciation for their own strengths and
    development areas
  • Experience a comprehensive and diverse approach to leadership

The Heart of a Leader

This module is a crucial part of the curriculum and is the first for a reason; we focus on intention, trust, and the relationships that are built between a leader and those that they lead. These skills are foundational for any great leader, and are necessary in order to anchor in all of the competencies that will be taught over the two days.

We will spend the session focusing on how our behaviors affect those around us, exploring this topic through a series of hands-on activities, case studies, and group discussions. This module sets the tone for the rest of the program.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • • Define your intention as a leader
  • • Align your intention with the best interest of your team and organization
  • • Build trust and respect for those you lead.

The Mind of a Leader

Emotional resiliency is the ability to adapt to stressful situations and relationships in the workplace. It’s nearly impossible to talk about challenges in our world today without hearing the word “stress” repeated again and again. Most people will want to learn how to make it go away. In this module, we take it one step further and explore how to embrace good stress (Yes, a certain level of challenge in the workplace is okay!) and prevent bad stress in the workplace.

This module employs a combination of neuroscience and practical examples to help you better understand stress triggers. You will walk away with tools to help you recognized when those around you are overly stressed.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • • Understand the importance of Emotional Resiliency in the workplace
  • • Distinguish between too little, optimal, and too much stress
  • • Identify associated behaviors with stress in the workplace
  • • Identify what is within our control, and how we can affect change when it is necessary to do so

The Voice of a Leader

In order to ensure your message is received as you intend it, a solid foundational understanding of different communication and behavioral styles is imperative. We will explore this topic in-depth through the lens of the DiSC behavior assessment.

Given that communication is a two-way street, this competency is taught alongside the Ears of a Leader.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • • Understand and apply basic principles of the Sender and Receiver communication model
  • • Discover your DiSC style and how it influences your behavior and communication styles
  • • Adapt your behavior and communication to accommodate those who prefer a different style

The Ears of a Leader

Strong communication skills are crucial for any great leader, but if you are not listening to those around you, you are missing half of what it takes to be effective. This competency focuses on developing this skill, providing you with a road map and arming you with tools to become a more effective listener.

In conjunction with the Voice of a Leader, we will explore the DiSC behavioral assessment and how your observations of others’ styles can assist you in becoming a more effective communicator. We will also discuss the Five Levels of Listening, and will learn how to Clarify and Confirm the message that you have heard.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • • Adapt your DiSC behavior and communication to people with other styles
  • • Demonstrate an understanding of the Six Interruptions to Listening
  • • Practice Clarifying and Confirming listening skills to ensure that the message that you heard was received as intended

The Hands of a Leader

Wouldn’t it be great if we felt comfortable enough to delegate more of what we’re juggling to our team? Unfortunately, delegation is often one of the biggest challenges that leaders face. We will delve into the facts and myths that surround this tricky topic.

This module is filled with tools based on cutting edge research that you can apply immediately. We will learn how and when it is appropriate to delegate, and to what level. Additionally, we will explore how to run effective one-on-one meetings and how to create lasting results with positive reinforcement.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • • Overcome obstacles that hinder delegation
  • • Apply the appropriate level of delegation for the employee, the project and the situation
  • • Set clear expectations when delegating work
  • • Use effective 1:1 meeting techniques to provide direction and support
  • • Demonstrate different methods of supporting and recognizing employees

The Feet of a Leader

You know that there is a great leader within you, and you have the tools to provide guidance to those around you. But do others perceive you as a leader? Are you really exuding the qualities that you embody, and showing up as your best self?

The Feet of a Leader explores different ways to influence others while displaying your best leadership qualities. You will learn to “walk your talk,” and role model the behavior you want to see in others. We will look at how you can create a culture of accountability by first role modeling personal accountability.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • • Experience the importance of Walking the Talk
  • • Identify the behaviors associated with Walking the Talk
  • • Demonstrate the ability to take personal responsibility and create accountability within the team

The Spine of a Leader

Be a leader who is courageous in tough times

If you are a leader in your organization, then chances are you have had to make a hard decision or two. From employees’ personal issues to difficult ethical dilemmas, sometimes your job provides you with more challenges than you bargained for. The Spine of the Leader module will provide a blueprint for working through these difficult situations.

We will focus on how you can tie in the various tools you have learned throughout the curriculum – from neuroscience to DiSC styles – to prepare an effective action plan next time you face a challenging situation. We realize that each situation is unique, and rather than focusing on general case studies, this will be an opportunity to bring to light real workplace issues you are currently facing.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • • Recognize why courage is an important leadership trait when faced with opposition, challenges, and obstacles
  • • Apply the Bottom, Middle, Top Oshry systems thinking model to your organization and use it to understand your relationships with others better
  • • Prepare for and effectively conduct a difficult conversation that you need to have with someone at work

The Eyes of a Leader

Be a leader who has a vision for the future

The tools, models, and skills taught in this two-day program will change how you work with others and lead within your organization. So, how do you bring it all together to ensure that it lasts?

This module is exactly as it seems – creating a vision for the future so that you can make the most of what you have just learned and put it into action! You will spend time creating a vision statement, identifying what potential “energy drains” may occur (hey, no organization is perfect!), and brainstorming how to eliminate these drains.

You will conclude with an action plan, identifying specific goals, tasks, and action items from the last two days that you can begin to apply when you return. This is especially important in ensuring that you have made the most of your time and are equipped to return to the workplace more empowered and prepared than ever before.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • • Create a vision for success
  • • Eliminate energy drains and other roadblocks to your success
  • • Execute your vision
